 "This was my first pregnancy and birth so I thought it would be helpful to have someone to help us through who was an expert – and someone besides hospital and medical staff (to help me through an unmedicated birth). All interaction with the doula was very positive. She did all that was described to me and expected by us. Our doula had a good quiet, calm, but knowledgeable presence. She was more than happy to step in when needed and to step back when my husband and I were OK on our own. My husband was a great support during labor but I think we’re both happy he didn’t have to do it alone. The high point was that I accomplished the natural, unmedicated childbirth I wanted. It was possible due to the frequent suggestions and alternate techniques that our doula presented.
